Speaking in Color

For this challenge, a copyright-free photo from the internet was divided into six pieces.  After agreeing on a color palette, each member created a section in the color she was assigned.  Each quilted piece was wrapped around a 24x24x2" stretched gallery canvas.

It took both Honorable Mention and Viewer's Choice in the Raw Fiber Exhibit at The Art Center at Clear Lake (TACCL) in 2010.

Group Challenges

Occasionally, we have thrown out group challenges.

These can be seen on our blog.

Fish

The parameters were to create an 8.5 x 11" art quilt with the theme of fish, utilizing the color chartreuse and including at least some silk fabric.

See our blog for more

The Exquisite Corpse

Connie Fahrion started out with her interpretation of a photo, and each person in turn did her own interpretation of the previous work.  Each artist only saw and took inspiration from the piece immediately before her.  This was a challenge based on the old children's games, "The Exquisite Corpse" and "The Gossip Game".

Finicky, by Linda Teddlie Minton. "Griffins can be a bit finicky," she observed, patting her perfect hair back into place.
