Tobacco Road

Connie Marie Fahrion's quilt, Tobacco Road, can be seen at International Quilt Festival 2015, in Houston, Tx., October 28 - November 1, 2015.  The quilt was inspired by the book Tobacco Road by Erskine Caldwell, although the quilt tells its own open-ended story and bears no resemblance to the actual book.  To read more about its creation, go to www.fiberspeak.blogspot.com.

Dinner at Eight Artists Exhibit, 2015

PicturePeas 'n Honey
Linda Teddlie Minton's "Peas 'n Honey" will be showing at the Houston International Quilt Festival in 2015. It is a 40" x 40" silk art quilt depicting her "Affinity" for Humor in Art, and references the old poem, "I eats my peas with honey, I've done it all my life. It makes the peas taste funny, but it keeps 'em on my knife." Jamie Fingal and Leslie Tucker Jenison have juried this invitational exhibit for several years now, via their Dinner at Eight Artists, and it is an honor to be accepted among the talented artists represented there.

Artist and writer Lynn Krawczyk wrote about us this month (October/November 2013 issue 65) of Quilting Arts Magazine
in her regular column, Replenishing Your Creative Well.  It was
a nicely balanced combination of interview and pictures.  We're
all very happy to have been featured in this, one of our favorite
magazines about the fiber arts.

The new residents at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft have been busily working in their studios, and the sounds of hammering, sawing and humming machinery can be heard throughout the building. Featuring new works by Tarina Frank, Chanda Glendinning, Susan Fletcher King, Jaydan Moore and Robert Thomas Mullen, the exhibition is just around the corner and down the street from the Craft Center.

The exhibition will only be open for two days, so don’t wait ‘til the last minute!

The HCCC Artist Residency Program not only gives the selected artists studio space but also provides an environment in which they can share ideas, collaborate, experiment, seek advice from peers and speak with the general public about their work and the greater world of contemporary craft.
